Head Instructor: Dr. Candace Chambers
Dr. Chambers is an instructor of English and Business/Professional Writing with 8 years of teaching experience. She has taught in in-person, hybrid, and online capacities at a variety of schools including the University of Alabama, Central Piedmont Community College, Ashland University, Georgia Military College, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and North Carolina A&T State University.
Dr. Chambers engages students through interactive lessons and a variety of learning modes. She has been recognized by her students for her dedication to the classroom as well as by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s Minerva Mentions nomination and by the University of Alabama as the awardee of the Carolyn P. Handa Excellence in Teaching Award.
Dr. Chambers earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction (Urban Literacy Concentration) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, her Master of Arts in English (Composition, Rhetoric, and English Studies concentration) from the University of Alabama, and her Bachelor of Arts in English (Secondary English Education concentration) from Jackson State University.
Guest Speakers
Dr. Turquoise Perlote serves as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Fort Valley State University and an adjunct professor at Georgia Military College. She teaches courses on biology, ecology, wildlife conservation, and ichthyology.
Dr. William Christmas is an adjunct professor of Early Childhood Theory and Practice at the University of Dayton. He teaches early childhood courses ranging from literacy, child growth and development, and infant toddler curriculum.
Dr. Marquis Mason is an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri. He teaches courses on managing classrooms for learning and culturally responsive pedagogy.
Dr. Allie Johnston is an Assistant Professor of English at Austin Peay State University. She teaches courses on Composition/Rhetoric and Writing.
